Tom Booth joins Nantwich on short-term loan

17 October 2022

First-year professional Tom Booth has joined fellow neighbours Nantwich Town on a short-term loan deal.

The young goalkeeper partners up with current teammate Sean Lawton at Swansway Stadium.

Tom completed his first lot of minutes for Nantwich Town at the weekend against Bamber Bridge as his loan application was accepted before Saturday's deadline.

Speaking on the loan move, first-team manager, Alex Morris said: "We have high hopes for Tom, but carrying three first-team 'keepers means the third one realistically isn't going to get as much game time at first-time level.

"Tom's still a very young goalkeeper, and we have ambitions if all goes well of him playing in our first-team for many years to come. In the mean time, he needs that exposure to men's football, getting those extra elbows from set-plays and the added pressure of getting three points is something you can't really give them in Under-21 football.

"It was good for him to initially go out to Kidsgrove, and now this is the next step on the ladder for him by going up a league. Hopefully he does well with Nantwich and then we can evaluate where he's going next."

Good luck during your time with the Dabbers, Tom.
