Morris: ‘We live and die by making sure loyal fans are rewarded’

17 October 2022

Alex Morris says he is happy to take responsibility for making sure Crewe Alexandra supporters are rewarded with better results and performances.

The Manager admits he never stops thinking about how to get positive outcomes for fans, who show loyal support up and down the country.

Well over 1,000 supporters made the short trip to Tranmere Rovers to see what turned out to be a 3-0 defeat on Friday.

Morris said: “You do take it home with you. If somebody didn’t take it home with them, I think that’s a sign of somebody who isn’t really immersed and invested in the job.

“You have to take it home with you because you are accountable, and you’re trying to make thousands of people happy every weekend.

“If we perform like we did against Tranmere, we’re not doing that. That’s hard to take and not a nice feeling, so your mind works overtime as you work out how to fix it.”

He added: “We’ve taken big followings to Salford and Tranmere now. Obviously, the game at Salford was very different in its circumstances, but they’ve not been rewarded on either occasion.

“I’m more disappointed than anyone about that, because you live and die by making sure your loyal supporters are rewarded.

“We also took good numbers to Bradford and Rochdale, but the entertainment value needs to be higher so we can score more goals and give them something to cheer about.”
