Lachlan Brook in a race against time to make Rovers clash

12 October 2022

Lachlan Brook has a fighting chance of being involved in Crewe Alexandra’s game at Tranmere Rovers on Friday night, after the ‘worst fears’ about a new injury were allayed.

That’s according to manager Alex Morris, who revealed there was concern that the on-loan Brentford man had suffered a reoccurrence of the ankle injury which saw him miss nearly a month of action earlier this season.

Now the forward is trying to prove his fitness ahead of the trip to Prenton Park.

Morris said: “He opened up the same injury that had kept him out, in training last Friday. That meant he wasn’t involved on Saturday, and we did fear the worst.

“But all the signs this week are that it isn’t anything major, it’s an irritation rather than a reoccurrence.

“Friday might come too early but we are still hoping he could be in the squad.”

Brook, 21, has scored one goal in seven league appearances for The Railwaymen since joining on a loan which runs until January.
