Boss demands ‘big response’ from his players

17 October 2022

Alex Morris has demanded his players produce a positive response to Friday’s defeat at Tranmere Rovers.

The Manager labelled Crewe’s showing at Prenton Park as the ‘poorest of the season’ and felt his men did not match the endeavor of the home side.

Now he wants a reaction, starting with a rematch against Tranmere in the Papa John’s Trophy at Mornflake Stadium on Tuesday (7pm).

Morris said: “I’m looking for a big response after the poorest performance of the season, in this next game and going forward.

“You try to win every game, but it’s important that we win a game of football soon because it’s been a while since we did that - it was against Crawley five games ago. We need that winning feeling back.

“No competition is as serious as the league is, I think everyone would acknowledge that. But for all the criticism this competition gets, it is an opportunity to play at Wembley and you have to give it all you can.

“Plus, the prize money is important for a club of our size. And it also gives you a chance to give players a chance to play, if they’ve been short of chances in the league.

“Two wins should get us through the group, so that’s what we will go all out to get.

"We have to hit the ground running and ensure we have something to play for, when we meet Leeds in the last group game.”
