Kenny Lunt says Crewe Alexandra must start beating teams like Swindon Town in order to rise up the League Two standings.
The Player Development Manager believes getting three points at The County Ground on Saturday (3pm) would make a big statement about the club’s direction of travel.
Lunt, still a key part of the first team coaching setup, says the squad have got through a lot of hard work in training in preparation for the clash with sixth-placed Robins.
He said: “It would be nice to go to Swindon and win, we’ve not beaten a side in the top seven or eight yet.
“We need to start beating sides like that so we can start moving up the league. We have to be better than them on the day.
“Training has been going well, we’re working on a lot of things in the attacking third. We need to score more goals but we can’t move away from what we have been doing so well at the back, that structure has been very good.
“We need to be effective with what we do, and plan for when we will win the ball back, when we are going to drop off, when we are going to press. All the stuff that goes into creating a good performance.”
