Morris Targets Early Business

6 May 2022

Morris says hard work now will pay off in pre-season.

Crewe Alexandra manager Alex Morris, says that the next two to three weeks will be vital in providing that foundation for new faces to come into the club.

The Alex boss and his staff have already highlighted potential targets in almost every position and Morris appreciates that the ground work that started even before relegation was confirmed under David Artell with now be greatly accelerated.

Morris made the tough decisions to finalise the club’s retained list earlier this week and he knows that he will need a number of players to arrive at the club this summer to improve his team and squad.

He told crewealex.net: “We need to know exactly where we are going in these next two to three weeks and that will mean there will a quick turnaround in regards to the players we have offered contracts to. We will need to know those decisions.

“These next two to three weeks are as important as to what is to follow later on in the off season and even towards the end of the transfer window.

Alex added: “We want to make sure that a lot of our business is done before we return to pre-season. We want them here with us from the start, so we can generate and build not only a team that we can be proud of but also developing that harmony off the pitch as well.”
