"All The Pieces Are Placed On The Table And June Will Be About Putting The Jigsaw Together"

Alex Morris says that midfielder Josh Lundstram might not be the last of our players to leave this summer as he looks to make room in his squad for new faces. Lundstram will join Altrincham on July 1st for an undisclosed fee after previously impressing on loan at the club and Morris admits that others may follow.

Defender Travis Johnson will leave the club at the end of his current contract after Alex Morris decided to retract an earlier offer made to the player by his predecessor David Artell.

Kelvin Mellor quickly arrived as a replacement.

Morris says that this month was primarily about placing the ‘pieces out on the table' before putting the jigsaw together in June and early July.

The Crewe Alexandra manager told the club’ s official website: “If we can free up one or two more then that potentially give us more in the budget. We are looking to improve the team and want more quality than quantity.

“We just feel that one or two may benefit from an opportunity of a new start. It is a slow process and it doesn’t happen quickly. It is purely a two-way thing and if there isn’t room for manoeuvre then it doesn’t happen.

“We have been open and honest and believe that if a player can forge a career elsewhere and get more game time then it could be in their best interest to do that but like I’ve said that is entirely a two-way street.

“You have to be patient with the entire process. It is like putting all your pieces out on the table and then sitting down and putting the jigsaw all together in June and early July. “
