Boss says staff are making positive inroads when it comes to potential targets.
Alex Morris says it was been a busy period of narrowing down potential targets as he looks to reshape his Crewe Alexandra squad for the forthcoming season.
Morris agreed to release nine players at the end of their contracts and whilst talks are still on going with scholars, Zac Williams and Connor Salisbury, the focus has remained on getting new faces into the club.
The Alex boss is looking to strength in all areas of the pitch as he sets about rebuilding following relegation to League Two.
Morris told the club’s official website:”We know exactly what we need and where. Getting those players in is an altogether different proposition.
“Knowing how we are going to play and what players we need to bring in to allow us to function as successfully as we can, that is the easy bit. We know that, we have a clear vision on that. We are now working towards getting those players in to fill those gaps in those identified areas. That is the hard bit.
“We have already got a long list in each of those positions. We have started to make real inroads in terms of speaking to those players or their agents in terms of the ones we have identified.
He added: “Naturally, some will drop off the list because you don’t always get your number one targets. It would be nice but we are realistic to know what sort of market we are working in and where we are in the food chain. That is why you need to have plenty of options in those positions.”
