Assistant manager, Lee Bell, says that the club will aim to forge better relationships with good agents to attract more players to the club.
In modern times, Crewe Alexandra have adapted to work more closely with the agents and representatives of players to compete for players. Bell admits that is modern football with agents unwilling to send players in your direction if there is no financial reward for them at the end of it.
Bell told the club’s official website: “I think agents know where we are at in terms of what we can offer them. I think it is important that you build some relationships with agents and that you are both honest with each other. So we can try to come up with the best solutions, so that we can get the type of player we want into the building.
“So it is about forging better relationships with them and knowing where we are at. We are constantly on the phone, talking to people and hopefully one or two will send players our way.
“I knew what the recruitment side would entail and knew what was coming. You have to get over disappointments and dead ends pretty quickly and move on to the next one, the next target, but it is still very early on the summer window and it is about being patient as well because a lot can happen.”
