Artell thankful for support from board as club look to appoint new Head of Recruitment

David Artell says he is thankful to Chairman, Charles Grant, and board of directors for the investment they are willing to make to improve resources at first team level.

Artell is fully involved in the process of the club appointing a new Head of Recruitment and analyst to help Crewe improve in that key area and a backroom reshuffle has seen coaches adopt new positions within the structure.

The Crewe boss believes that the investment had to be made and  that it will pay dividends in the long-term.

He said: “The changes we have made and the investment we are making will allow us to have greater clarity and in a way bring us back to the coaching element of the club.

“It will allow Kenny to work closer with individual players and the sessions he and Alex will put on will only benefit the players’ development going forward.

“I am thankful of the support I have received from the chairman and the board. They were in agreement that we needed additional resources at first-team level.

He added: “The head of recruitment is an important role for us and it is important we get the right person into the building. It is a really positive step and everything we have done is in the best interest of the club.”
