Artell: "Frustrating Not To Have A Game"

23 March 2022

David Artell is ‘frustrated ‘that his team do not have the opportunity to reverse a run of five straight defeats following a 2-1 away win at Cheltenham. Crewe Alexandra’s recent run have left our chances of survival in League One increasingly difficult with just 7 fixtures remaining.

The Railwaymen’s tough away game at MK Dons has been postponed this weekend due to International call-ups for the home side and Artell has to be prepare his side for the next game against Fleetwood on 2nd April.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “In many ways we would have liked another game this weekend but it is what it is. It can be frustrating but also beneficial at other times of the season, so you just have to get on with it.

“It will allow us to do more work out of the training ground and give the players a period of rest as well. We will be in Saturday and we have two games next week with the Under-23s and Stockport in the Cheshire Senior Cup. We will have to prepare for those.

“Hopefully the free week will give the players a chance to refresh their minds and recover physically and hopefully we will see the fruition of the work we do against Fleetwood in our next game.”
