David Artell celebrated his 100th win as Crewe Alexandra manager at Cheltenham on Saturday, but he believes he has learnt more in the last six months than he has done in the previous four and half years.
Talking ahead our weekend encounter with Wycombe, Artell told us: “I didn’t know it was 100 wins as manager and it is what it is. I hope we can go on and have 100 more.
“You certainly become more battle weary with the job and I think I’ve learnt more in the last six months than I have in the previous four years. I think I have experienced things that no other manager at this level can experience.
“I think I have experienced more because I know that other managers do not get the opportunity to work through the adversity, they usually lose their job. I think that has made me a better manager because you have to work things out and find a way. You have to plot things and rebuild and that is what we are doing.”
