Alex Morris hopes that the three new signings and the news that young defender Zac Williams and other talented youngsters emerging from a strong year group have signed new deals has only improved the optimism and expectations heading into the new season.
The Crewe Alexandra boss and his staff have worked hard behind the scenes since succeeding David Artell as manager in terms of recruitment and restoring lost confidence following a disappointing relegation back to League Two and Morris says that he wants that building momentum to continue throughout the summer and into the new season.
The Alex boss is still after potential targets with him actively pursuing a new goalkeeper, a centre-half, another central midfielder and forward/winger to add to his squad for the forthcoming season.
Morris told crewealex.net: “Obviously we want to enthuse our supporters as we head into a new season. We want them involved as much as possible and hopefully we will continue to have more good news for them in terms of players coming in.
“When they are not getting their football fix over the summer, the one way they still feel involved is when they see us spoken about in terms of new faces coming into the club. We have signed three and we are delighted to have done that business early and get them here ready for the pre-season.
“More will follow and we want the fans to remain in touch with what is happening during the close season and if we can give them something to grab onto and get enthusiastic about then great.
He added: “We want to keep them updated and let them know where we are at with certain things. Hopefully, that will all add to the momentum we are trying to build and perhaps a few more of them, who may have been undecided about renewing their season ticket, will now reconsider and come down and support the team. Their support is going to be as vital as always next season and we are leaving no stone unturned to build a team they can be proud of.”
