"More May Become Available When Clubs Return To Pre-Season Training"

15 June 2022

After completing four permanent signings ahead of the return to pre-season training, Crewe Alexandra manager Alex Morris says that he and his recruitment team will re-asses the market to try and add more quality to the starting XI.

The former Chelsea youngster, Charlie Colkett, has made it four new signings for the summer and the news that youngster Zac Williams agreed his professional contract was also a major coup before the start of the campaign.

The young Welshman won the club’s player-of-the-year award after making a decisive breakthrough to senior level during a torrid campaign.

Now Morris says that the club may have to wait until clubs return to pre-season before any further business can be accomplished. Players will soon discover if they are a part of a manager’s plans when they return to pre-season and start playing the games again.

He said: “They may not have known that at the end of the season and it can change but it is not easy, in fact it is even harder because if you are looking to loan one  there are other factors that come into play because they are technically not your player.

“That is why I am pleased to have four in the building and have been able to do that early enough ahead of our return to pre-season. They wanted to come here and that is huge for us. It was a huge factor because that has not always been the case in the past.

The boss added: “We feel the four we have on permanent deals have great personalities and characters that will help us shape the environment we want to create here.”
