The signing of defender Rod McDonald marked Alex Morris’s fifth signing of a busy summer and the former Northampton, AFC Wimbledon and Coventry man ‘fits the profile of what we have been looking for’ this summer, according to the vastly experienced coach Kenny Lunt.
The club’s Player Development Manager told the club’s official website: “Rod fits the bill of what we are looking for. We have three good centre-halves and Zac (Williams) can also play there if needed but we wanted one with a bit more experience.
“He is at a good age and has played a lot of games in the league. He has had a good career and has a lot of attributes that we feel can help us.
“He is physical, good in the air and he is a talker, so hopefully that can rub off on our lads.
“We are pleased that Rod has come in and the business we have done so far has been good. We would like to add one or two more if we can and the recruitment team of Josh, Glyn and John are working hard on that. We have more eyes and data to work with and it’s worked well.
He added: “I am sure we will all be about again watching games as soon as we can. When we are not so busy, I am sure we will be back in our cars going up and down the motorway to watch games and players. “
