Kenny Lunt says that the first couple of weeks of pre-season have been that enjoyable that the players are walking around with ‘smiles back on their faces’ and if they haven’t got one it probably means they are tired out as they get through gruelling double sessions in readiness for the new season!
The club’s Player Development Coach has taken a number of sessions and says that the players have responded superbly well to the demands so far.
Ahead of this weekend’s first friendly match of the summer at Nantwich, Lunt said: “The players have been good and the standard has been impressive. We have spoken a lot about standards and it has been high. Credit to them but they have to keep going and get stronger.
“They have been going around with smiles on their faces again, so that can only be a good thing after the season we all experienced. I am sure they just cannot wait to play again on Saturday and get back into the rhythm of games again.
“They just have to work as hard as they have been doing and make sure they are as fit as possible. We don’t want to push them too much so they break down but we are certainly pushing them to their limits.
Kenny added: “If they haven’t been smiling it must due to them being knackered! But I’m sure if you asked the lads they would say it’s been tough but enjoyable. They are loving it. It’s hard work but it will pay off in the end.”
