Gomes Leaves By Mutual Consent

23 June 2022

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that Madger Gomes has left the club by mutual consent.

The Spanish-born midfielder has agreed to depart this summer after making 11 appearances last season.

The former Liverpool and Leeds man made eight league appearances, starting four of those games in League One.

The 25-year-old did not feature again for the first team after Crewe defeated his former club, Doncaster Rovers in the Papa John’s Trophy back in December.

Although he played frequently at Under-23 level, he was unable to force his way back into the first-team plans under previous boss David Artell.

New boss Alex Morris recently went on record to praise the 'conduct and professionalism' of the midfielder as the club discussed a deal to suit both parties with Gomes eager to move in search of more regular first-team football.

Crewe Alexandra would like to wish Madger every success in his future career and we wish him and his family well after he recently became a father for the first time!

Everyone at Crewe would like to thank Madger for his time spent with us.
