Baker-Richardson: "I Felt It Was The Perfect Match"

1 June 2022

The club’s most recent signing, Courtney Baker-Richardson, says he literally cannot wait to get started after agreeing a two-year deal with the club. The 26-year-old chose Crewe above a number of other suitors to move from Newport County and the former Coventry City trainee already feels at home after receiving a warm welcome from the manager and his staff.

Baker-Richardson told the club’s official website: “I am very happy to have signed and for it to be sorted. Crewe is a big club and I cannot wait to get working with the boys this summer and hit the ground running.

“Crewe made contact with my agent in the off season and the process advanced pretty quickly. I came up to Crewe to meet the manager and the assistant manager and received a warm welcome from everyone. It was very homely and when you have that as a player and you feel comfortable in the environment then it is going to influence your decision.

“I felt comfortable and I think as a footballer when you are comfortable and settled you play your best football. I have the security of the two years and that means I can settle here, get a house and focus on the football.

“It allows you to relax and breathe a bit without thinking too far ahead. I think it suits me as a player and it is a very good match.

“I just want to do what I do and it isn’t really up to me to say what type of player I am. That will be up to others to judge, but I feel I am a warrior and will leave everything I have out on the pitch. I score goals, all sorts of goals, from range, in the box and headers and I hope there are plenty of goals to come.”

There is more from Courtney now available on the club’s YouTube channel.

Everyone at Crewe welcomes Courtney to the Football Club.
