Alex Morris says that there will have to be accountability amongst his close-knit squad because everyone will be needed at some point for the 50+ games season.

Morris says that there will be ‘expectations on everyone’ to step up when necessary throughout the campaign.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told us: “We are not going to a huge squad so there will be expectation and accountability on everyone when they are called upon.

“This is going to be a squad that will have to rely on all the players being ready to come in and make a contribution and have that impact. You never know what the situation may be throughout the season in terms of senior players being out injured and it will be those on the fringes of it to come in and be accountable.

“That is why the youngsters have trained with the first team for over 12 months now, so they are integrated into that environment and understand the pressure of dealing with first-team football.

"Being exposed to that enviornment makes that job a little bit easier for them when they are required to step up."
