Morris: "Will Be Interesting To See How Some Of Our Younger Players Handle West Brom"

15 July 2022

Alex Morris says he has got plenty out of pre-season up to this point and he will once again observe how some of his younger players handle the challenge of facing Championship side West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The Crewe manager says it will be an intriguing test if he decides to utilise some younger members of his squad.

Ahead of our first home pre-season game, the Alex boss said: “At Halesowen it was a good challenge again for some of our younger players because they were up against a men’s team. There was also a partisan crowd there and that is a challenge they don’t get coming from Academy football.

“Whilst it was really disappointing in many aspects with the ball, what they did show us was some fortitude to go on and win the game late on. That is not a bad habit to pick up regardless of who you play.

“Some of them may get another chance against West Bromwich Albion and that will another challenge to face players of that calibre. It will be interesting to see how they handle that and playing at the Stadium in front of a crowd again.”
