Boss delighted as new goalkeeper confirmed arrival to offer that competition to Dave Richards.
Alex Morris has revealed that the club have been given assurances that a goalkeeper will arrive on loan in early August. The Crewe Alexandra boss has had confirmation from the player’s club that he will permitted to join up with us early next month after previously being retained to cover for an injury at his parent club.
The goalkeeper has been on tour with his club, playing a couple of games and Morris is grateful to have that competition in place to challenge Dave Richards for the number one spot.
The Crewe Alexandra manager told crewealex.net: “Progress has been made with the goalkeeper and we can confirm that he will be joining us on loan in early August.
“The date has now been finalised with his club and we are delighted with that because he was the number one target we wanted to offer that competition to Dave.
“The manager wanted him to remain with them and to go on a tour because one of their other goalkeepers needed a minor operation. The manager, quite understandably, wanted him to travel and provide that cover. He played a couple of times on the tour, so that is only another positive.
“Of course, it is not ideal because you would like all your players here as early as possible, regardless of position but having to wait two or three weeks more to get the goalkeeper wanted is only a slight sacrifice to make.
“We held our nerve a bit on that one, if that is the right phrase, because we wanted to bring this particular goalkeeper in and you never know what can happened in football, but we have had the confirmation now and that is only good news.”
