Boss:"There Is A Real Mix With Our Front Four And We Have To Make That Mix Right"

7 July 2022

Alex Morris pleased with front four contribution

Alex Morris was delighted that two of his forward players, Dan Agyei and new summer signing Courtney Baker-Richardson were both off the mark in pre-season in the club’s comfortable win over Kidsgrove Athletic.

The forward players helped themselves to two goals each and the other forward Bassala Sambou set the intensity expected on the night with his energetic performance. Crewe ended up winning 6-0 in our third pre-season match of the season and Morris was pleased that his forwards were amongst the goals.

He told crewealex.net: “The forward players and the attacking midfielder (Callum Ainley) are expected to score and assist goals.

“Both of their goals were very different. Courtney’s was a great finish after what was a fabulous move and his second goal was a tap-in.

“Daniel’s again were two goals that were different. His first was a tap in. His second was a great touch, he brought it down from the sky and showed composure to finish. Callum and Bass were just as good with their play as well. Those front four and you bring Chris Long into that and Oli Finney can come into that and others over time hopefully, have got to be a real nuisance to the opposition.

He added: “There is some pace in there, some power in there and there is a good mix and we have to make sure we get that mix right.”
