Lunt: "There Are Still Places Up For Grabs"

12 July 2022

Crewe Alexandra are preparing for their next pre-season fixture at Halesowen this evening and the club’s Player Development Coach, Kenny Lunt says he is eager to see more things being translated from the training pitch into game situations.

The Alex held a strong Barnsley side to a goalless draw on Saturday and Lunt says that the staff have been pleased with the intensity and application shown by the players throughout the pre-season and in the games so far.

Lunt told crewealex.net: “We want to continue to see what we have worked on in training out on the grass, taken into the games. We want to see us playing out from the back and being a threat in the final third with the attacking players we have.

“The players have shown that at times in the pre-season but we know we can still improve and work on a few things. We can use the remaining games to have a look at different things and see what they have picked up from the training sessions.

“We have been pleased with the intensity of it all and the way the players have approached the games and we are looking for the same against Halesowen, West Brom and Rotherham. It is still an opportunity to get into the team or closer to the team with places up for grabs.”
