Club Confident Finney Ankle Injury Not Too Serious

19 July 2022

First year professional, Charlie Finney, has certainly impressed in the pre-season matches so far in an unfamiliar left-back role.

The usual attack-minded midfielder has demonstrated his versatility by switching position and he was producing another consistent display against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday before he landed awkwardly on his ankle and had be replaced by his brother, Oli.

Finney left the stadium in a supportive boot and although his ankle is sore, the club are not expecting him to be out for too long.

Crewe Alexandra manager, Alex Morris told us: “Charlie Finney started the game really well against West Brom but unfortunately was another one who went off injured.

"We seem to be losing players left, right and centre and it has just been unlucky. They have all been impact injuries or twisted ankles that sort of thing. It is done to pure luck more than anything, they are not muscular injuries but you suck it up and you get on with it.

“With Charlie, we are confident that he is only another a short term injury. He had done really well in pre-season in that left back position and it gives you food for thought as a manager.”
