Crewe Alexandra midfielders, Charlie Colkett and Conor Thomas, have handed Alex Morris a major boost ahead of the new season after being given the all-clear to re-join training.
The two summer signings from Cheltenham Town have not featured in the pre-season matches thus far after picking up calf muscle injuries but in a welcome boost with the season a couple of weeks away, they are now stepping up their fitness.
This weekend’s home fixture against West Bromwich Albion is sure to come around too quickly but the duo could be granted some game time in our behind closed door fixture against Belgium side Lommel SK next week and then against Rotherham on 23rd July.
Crewe Alexandra manager, Alex Morris has welcomed their return to full-time training. He told us: “It is good to have Charlie and Conor back training with us and to see them out on the grass again.
“It means we have two good players back with us. They are aware of how we play because although they have been injured, they have been fully involved with the analysis videos and have been able to watch training and see what we do.
He added: “They are experienced players and they pick up things quickly and have settled in well. Hopefully they will be involved soon. Saturday will come around too quickly for them but we have two fixtures after that and if they come through those then they will be up for selection for the opening game like everybody else.”
