'Agyei Showed Some Real Craft To Equalise'

Boss delight in Agyei's calm finish against Championship Baggies

Daniel Agyei’s superb solo run and finish gave Crewe Alexandra a hard fought draw against Championship side West Bromwich Albion at the weekend and the former Oxford man scored after switching to a more central role after Courtney Baker-Richardson was withdrawn.

Agyei’s powerful run through three West Brom defenders was finished by a deft lift over the on rushing Alex Palmer and Crewe Alexandra boss Alex Morris was delighted with the execution in a one-on-one situation.

Morris told the club’s official website: “Dan (Agyei) showed some real power and strength to burst through the middle of their defence and took his goal really well.

“He showed a bit of craft and we have been on to him about that because he likes to go for power really.

“We have encouraged him to add more variation to his finishing. We wanted him to show more of that, so we were delighted with that finish. He was more subtle and he did really well.

Alex added: “He is predominately a wide man in the system we want to play, but he showed that he can also play through the middle if we ever need him to and that is another string to his bow.”
