'Youth Tean Have To Brace The Occasion At Leicester This Evening'

14 January 2022

Artell says no reason why Crewe youngster cannot spring a surprise in the FA Youth Cup this evening.

First team manager David Artell says that the club’s Youth players should embrace the occasion against Leicester City in this evening’s FA Youth Cup tie at the Foxes’ impressive training complex.

Lee Bell’s side face a tough fourth round tie and Artell says that the whole routine of playing away, travelling to the match and facing a tougher opponent will only increase their experience and development.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Everyone knows that Leicester will be a tougher opponent than they have met previously. They have established one of the finest Academies in the country and will have good young players, but then so do we.

“We have a strong group, they are very much together and will be going there with the mindset to win the tie.

“They will see what the standard is and will benefit enormously from the experience. It will different preparing for an away game. They will travel on the coach, have a pre-match and travel to the stadium instead of mum or dad dropping them off and it will feel different.

“It will be a difficult challenge but one they can embrace and look forward to. They have to enjoy it and there is no reason why they cannot go there and get a result either because we have a good team. Hopefully that is the way it will play out and everyone wishes them well for the game.”
