Crewe Alexandra’s legendary striker, Luke Varney, is tackling a mammoth cycle race that will start and finish at the Mornflake Stadium in March.
Varney, who scored 35 goals in 108 appearances for the Railwaymen, is aiming to raise funds for Cyclists Fighting Cancer.
Varney, who recently retired from professional football, is set to ride 162km on Sunday 27th March along the Cheshire Cat Long route, which contains plenty of hills for him to climb. The route can take up to 10 hours to complete and Crewe Alexandra is fully supporting our former player as he raises money for a charity that supports children and young people with cancer.
The charity donates new bikes, equipment and adapted trikes to aid the youngster’s fitness and wellbeing. It all helps in their battle against this terrible disease.
