Shrewsbury Have Shown What Can Be Achieved By Stringing Results Together

14 January 2022

Crewe host Shrews this weekend aiming to acheive back-to-back home wins

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has been pleased with the upturn in his side’s performances but he is after even more consistency as we welcome one of the in-form teams in League One to the Mornflake Stadium this weekend. Crewe are currently sixth in the form table but Steve Cotterill’s Shrews are 4th after a terrific sequence of results that has seen them propel up to 15th in League One.

Artell has hailed Shrewsbury’s recent good form and highlights what can be achieved by stringing a succession of results together.

The Alex boss told us: “Recently we have won one, lost one, won one, lost one and whilst that is a improvement from where we have come from, we need to be even more consistent and string a run of results together.

“Shrewsbury have shown what can be achieved and they have moved up the table quickly because they have managed to string those results together.

“Steve (Cotterill) has done a great job there again. He is a highly experienced manager and they have some good players. They have an effective way of playing and we have to match them and play our game.

“We managed to do that against a very good Charlton side on Wednesday night and the challenge is there for us to do it again.

He added: “I think we showed again that we are heading in the right direction and when you get a result like we did against Charlton that only reinforces the belief that we are heading the right way. Now we have to sustain that and try and achieve those back-to-back home wins.”
