Assistant manager Kenny Lunt is hoping that the club’s new arrivals coupled with the talent we already posses in the squad will see us get back to creating and scoring goals more regularly. Crewe have not won in three league games and have not scored during that time either and the vastly experienced Lunt says that the arrival of new recruits will only spur the performances of others.
Kenny told the club’s official website: “I think we have players here who can create and score goals. I thought that before we brought in the players we have. Maybe they just needed a bit of help and that is what we have tried to do.
“We perhaps were relying on a few who were not quite ready to play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and they are still finding their feet. They will become very good players in time and that is all they need is a bit of time and getting that experience and then coming back out. Until they are ready, we all thought they could do with a bit of help and that is why we worked so hard on bringing in the players we did. “
He added: “It has been tough because we lost a lot of good players. I think if you look back to last season, it has been as many as 8 changes that used to start most games, so we want to get back to a settled team that are winning games again. That is the aim and the challenge is for all of them to prove that they should be in the team.”
