Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has told the club’s official website that he remains confident that the club will bring in new signings before the end of the January transfer window.
Artell and his staff are working hard behind the scenes to get some new faces into the club as we fight to retain our League One status. The Alex boss admits that the New Year window is more difficult due to the intensity of the period, but he is getting closer each day after holding talks with agents and players.
Artell told crewealex.net: “I remain confident that we will get some business done this month. We are making progress and there are always reasons why these things take a bit of time. Some of that becomes clearer once we get it over the line.
“The January window is certainly a lot harder to do good business but there is still scope to do business. It is a four-week opportunity to improve and that is what we will aim to do.
“We do have some priority positions. There are always priorities when we discuss targets and we need to provide that competition and cover for certain positions more than others. That is always the case and we remain hopeful because we feel every day that we are making progress with the one or two irons in the fire.”
