David Artell calm over Mandron speculation
David Artell says that Mikael Mandron remains very much a Crewe Alexandra player despite speculation about his contract situation at the club.
The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and Mandron is yet to sign a new deal.
Artell says that the offer remains very much on the table.
This season’s leading scorer with 9 goals in all competitions has been utilised in a right wing-back position of late and the boss says that his contract situation has had no affect on performances or his application.
Artell told crewealex.net: “The situation with Mika is that he is coming to the end of his contract. He won’t be the only footballer in the country in that situation.
“We offered him a contract two months ago and his agent told me at the time ‘that it wasn’t the time to sign it’.
“The bottom line is that he hasn’t signed it yet. It is still on the table and we hope he signs it. That is where we are at the moment with him.
“Mika has been great for us and he fits the bill of what people would look for. He is tall, athletic and works hard. He has scored goals for us and he should score more with the ability he has.
The boss added: “He enjoys it here. He understands what we are about and I’m sure he would say he has improved as a player. He likes working with us and hopefully he signs his contract. If he doesn’t then it is up to us to go out in the summer and find someone better.”
