David Artell has told the club’s official website that he fully expects a new signing to arrive at the club this week.

The Crewe Alexandra boss withheld from suggesting it was 100% certain but he is very confident that a deal will be struck as he aims to bolster his squad for the remaining 19 games of the campaign.

The Alex boss told us: “I know I said last week that we would possibly get one maybe two in and it didn’t happen as quickly as that for reasons beyond our control.

“I will stop short of saying I am 100% certain because you can never be certain until they sign the paperwork but I’m very confident that we will get one in this week. We have made good progress and I hope we will be able to announce one at least before the weekend.”
