Artell: "There Will Be Movement In The Window"

3 January 2022

David Artell says that ‘there will be movement’ during this month and he hopes that the ground work he has set in place in advance of the window reopening will prove decisive. The Alex boss is eager to strengthen his options as the club fight to stay in League One and he admits it has already been a busy period.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “Recruitment is never ending. You might get a couple of weeks in September and February when the window closes but then it can be not really. You can still take one or two calls about free agents.

“There will be movement. When that will happen I am not too sure but I hope it will be sooner rather than later. We are getting to the point where the clubs are saying yes, he can go out on loan or he can leave. We have been busy and there are irons in the fire and we will go from there.

“We need ready-made players at this stage and you try and get it more right than wrong with the ones you bring in. The need is there to improve the team if we can.

He added: “If they are good enough and already at the level then they can develop here but we have to try and pick the right ones.”
