David Artell says that the outstanding performance of full-back, Travis Johnson, against Rotherham United should not go unnoticed. Johnson was making just his 10th appearance of the season in a left wing-back role and the 21-year-old produced one of his best displays at senior level against the current League One leaders.
He certainly had his hands full with the amount of attacking talent, Rotherham have at their disposal, but he more than held his own against his direct opponent, Tolaji Bola, and then when Ollie Rathbone replaced him!
The Alex boss was delighted with the former Academy graduate saying: “I thought Travis was very good. He was up against good players and he was good both defensively and in possession. These are established League One, Championship players and he was good, especially up against Bola.
“It is all part of his development. He is still only 21 and still relatively inexperienced but he has come in and done well against the league leaders. With injuries in the full-back positions, he has done his chances no harm at all.”
