Scan reveals knee injury not as bad as first feared.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he remains optimistic about our French forward Mikael Mandron being back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

The club’s leading scorer with 8 goals this season in all competitions suffered a knee injury against Gillingham and is set for a period on the sidelines as Crewe battle against relegation, but Artell is pleased that a mid-week scan has revealed that the injury is not as bad as first feared.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Mika went to see a specialist on Wednesday and it is better news that we first thought. That is a bonus.

“I think Mika went on social media to let the supporters know and he may have jumped the gun a bit because the scan has been a lot more positive than we expected.

“It is more encouraging news and we hope to have been back on the pitch, sooner rather than later.”
