Lunt: "Hopefully It Can All Come Together And We Get The Three Points"

1 February 2022

Assistant says increased squad options has given everyone a lift ahead of Priestfield showdown.

Kenny Lunt says that tonight’s key clash at the bottom of League One will not define our season, but it will be a massive three points for whoever can claim them at the Priestfield Stadium. Crewe are currently three points clear of the Gills, with both clubs playing 28 fixtures.

Gillingham have recently appointed the former Millwall manager Neil Harris as their new manager and they will be looking for that managerial bounce in their quest to escape the relegation zone. A win for Crewe see them move within four points of 7th placed AFC Wimbledon.

Ahead of the trip to Kent, Kenny told the club’s official website: “They are all a massive three points for us at the moment because we don’t want that gap to get any bigger and for us to run out of games.

“We know it is a big three points and Gillingham will be thinking the same, but even after the game there are still a lot of games left and a lot of points to play for. But we know how important these three points can be because we want to put some distance between ourselves and Gillingham and start looking up the table.

“We want to go there and win. We have a lot of choices to make with who we take in the squad. We have a lot more options now and we will players who can come off the bench and make a real impact as well. So hopefully that can all come together and we can get the three points.

He added: “We have certainly got to start doing better away. We have had one away win all season and we know that has to improve. We need to improve and get back to keeping clean-sheets and scoring goals because it is three games since we scored one now.”
