Artell: "New Players Have Settled In Well But It Takes Time To Build Those Relationships"

17 February 2022

David Artell says that the club’s new signings have settled into the club really well and have made contributions since signing in the January window.

Artell made five signings on deadline day with four of them starting the last game away at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday evening. Rekeem Harper was an unused substitute after starting the previous game at Accrington Stanley.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “The new players have come in and settled in well. They have all contributed and have made encouraging starts. You have to remember that some of them like Ryan and Tariq are still fairly young and inexperienced in competitive football.

“People forget that Rekeem is still only 21 and he is getting there. I think Dan Agyei has been really good and consistent and he deserved his goal at Accrington.

“We are building those relationships and it takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight. It took Pixie and Kirky 12 years so we cannot expect it to happen in 12 days.”
