Crewe Alexandra have to make their Mornflake Stadium a tough place to get a result if we are going to escape the drop at the end of the season says David Artell.
Crewe have eight games remaining at home and Artell says that those games will be crucial in our survival bid. The Railwaymen kick off that sequence with a visit from play-off chasing Portsmouth.
Ahead of our home clash against Pompey, the Alex boss said: “Our remaining home games are going to be crucial. We understand that and we have to be tough to beat at home and look to give ourselves a foundation of points if we are going to get enough to survive.
“We won’t be the only team in this league, who are better at home than away. Portsmouth’s home record is better than their away results and that often tends to be the trend.
“We know we have to make our home a bit of a fortress again. We have to focus on ourselves and what we need to do. After the run we have been on we want to give a good account of ourselves in front of our own fans.
“It doesn’t matter if its Portsmouth, Oxford, Rotherham or Gillingham, we want to win and if we can play to our levels then we believe we can give everyone a game and goals change games. It did on Tuesday, so we know we have to become more dangerous in the final third and score that first goal ourselves.”
