Boss will review red card incident in cold light of day

14 August 2022

Alex Morris says Bassala Sambou’s ‘ill-judged’ actions which led to his red card at Salford City will be discussed on Monday.

The 24-year-old was dismissed for his part in an off-the-ball incident during the first half on Saturday.

The home side went onto win 3-0, as The Railwaymen toiled in the heat with 10 men.

The manager says Sambou’s actions made life very difficult against a strong Salford side.

Morris said: “He left us in a predicament we didn’t want to be in. He has held his hand up but it will be dealt with on Monday morning, let’s leave it there.

“He has had a promising start to the season but made a very ill-judged decision and now someone will get the chance to take his place.”

Sambou took to social media to apologise to supporters and his teammates after the game, but he now looks set to serve a suspension.

The likes of Courtney Baker-Richardson, Oliver Finney and Khanya Leshabela will be among the players vying to start against Sutton United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
