Boss On Challenge Of MK Dons

5 April 2022

Railwaymen need to upset the odds against League's One most in-form side to give us a slight lifeline in bid to stay up.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell believes that MK Dons are enjoying another successful season after building on the foundations of their philosophy. The Dons need the three points this evening for very different reasons to Crewe Alexandra and the struggling Alex will have to well and truly rip up the form guide if we are to upset the odds.

A 3-1 home defeat to Fleetwood at the weekend meant it was six successive defeats for Artell’s men, while the in-form MK Dons go into tonight’s game on the back of a 13-game unbeaten run.

In that time, Liam Manning’s side have won 10 to go third in the League One table. Their timely run sees them just a point behind Rotherham and Wigan in the automatic promotion places albeit those two clubs do have game in hand.

Ahead of our trip to the impressive Stadium MK, Artell told the club’s official website: “Liam has come in and done really well. He has carried their philosophy on and they have build on the foundation they set last year when they were competitive at the top end.

"We know they are good footballing side and like to play the right way. They are a good side and are in great form but strange things can happen in this game.

“We know how MK Dons like to play and dictate the game and we know that we are not right at it and work hard to stop them playing then it is going to be a tough evening for us.

“We will have to go there and play as well as we have done at times this season. We have had some good performances without getting the result and that has to change. We have got to go there and give a really good account of ourselves and if we do then anything can happen in football. “
