Interim manager, Alex Morris, told the club’s official website that he took many positives from Saturday’s comeback performance against AFC Wimbledon, but most encouraging was the way his players took information on board and stuck to the game plan.
Crewe found themselves 1-0 down to Sam Cosgrove’s wonder strike but managed to turn that half-time deficit around in a stunning 45 minutes.
Quick fire goals from Mikael Mandron and Chris Long and a late third from substitute Bassala Sambou sealed a memorable first win for Morris and his backroom staff.
Alex told the club’s official website: “We learnt a lot about the players. If they have a frame work, and know their roles and responsibilities then they can perform to the levels expected of them.
“They had the right mind-set and showed the quality to come back from a goal down. We managed to go in front and then extended the lead so that was very pleasing.
“It will be a different proposition at Sheffield Wednesday, but we have to go with the same mind-set and competiveness and try and execute the game plan.”
