Morris:" Key Planning Has To Continue"

27 April 2022

Interim boss Alex Morris is hosting regualr recruitment meetings with his staff as he looks to put in a place a strategy that will allow us to add quality to the Crewe Alexandra squad next season.

Morris has told the club’s official website that he has licence to take things forward and he will also have a strong input when it comes to the forthcoming retain list.

Morris and his backroom staff of Lee Bell and Kenny Lunt remain hopeful that they will be appointed on a full-time basis after stopping a terrible slide of results under previous manager, David Artell. The new set-up have achieved four points from the last three games despite having not too much to play for.

Alex told the club’s official website: "We've been given the freedom to look beyond this season. The planning continues and work regarding players and recruitment is continuing daily.

"While there hasn't been a definite decision in terms of the manager for next year, things still need to be put in place so we are not falling behind other clubs in terms of recruitment.

"Those sort of things can't wait regardless of the managerial situation being up in the air.

"If we allow those things to be put on the backburner, you lose time and preparing for next season is going to be key."

The caretaker boss added: "We all know recruitment this summer is going to be huge because there is going to be quite a high turnover of players and, therefore, those incoming players, we've got to get more right than wrong."
