But it is good news as season nears the end.

Travis Johnson has undergone a scan on his foot injury and the outcome has been a positive one.

Johnson suffered the injury in the 2-1 defeat to MK Dons and he has missed the Easter matches as a result. The defender produced one of his best performances of the season at Stadium MK and it was a set-back with Crewe lacking full-backs. Josh Lundstram came in and performed admirably in an unnatural position for him.

Johnson’s scan has shown no serious damage to his foot and although this weekend’s final home game of the season against Ipswich may come too soon for him, he could possibly be available for the trip to Lincoln a week later.

Interim assistant manager, Lee Bell told us: “Travis underwent a scan and there is no serios damage with the foot. It will be a question of his pain threshold and how he handles that.

“Hopefully he will able to re-join the group next week, get some training under his belt and declare himself available for the Lincoln game.”
