Important To Break The Losing Habit

7 April 2022

Boss says Alex need result for various reasons

David Artell has told the club’s official website that Crewe Alexandra need a win to break the habit of losing that we have found ourselves in during the crucial run-in.

A narrow 2-1 defeat to MK Dons on Tuesday evening made it 8 successive defeats and leaves the club on the brink of a return to League Two.

Relegation could be confirmed at Doncaster at the weekend if Crewe fail to win or results go against us elsewhere and Artell is only focussed on his team producing a good performance at the Keepmoat and obtain that 7th win of a disappointing campaign.

Artell told crewealex.net: “We need a win for right now. We need one for the league, to take into next season, for the confidence to break the losing habit, all those things. There are various reasons why we need that win after the run we have been on. That goes without saying.

“We have to play well. We will only win football matches if we play well and play to our potential because they are all tough games.

“When you are in the situation we find ourselves in, you find out about men. I think about young Connor O’Riordan and Zac Williams, about Billy (Sass-Davies) and Luke Offord for example. They have come to the fore and have grasped their opportunities this season.

“There have been times where their performances have not been so good but they have had to start somewhere and it will help them going forward.

He added: “That is what we do at this football club and what we have to do and it is only going to help with their development and make them better players going forward in their careers.”
