'Defensive Unit Has Improved As A Collective'

25 April 2022

Alex Morris has been pleased with the way his Crewe Alexandra side have defended as collective unit during his three games in caretaker charge.

The Alex have conceded just three goals over the three matches and that has helped end a barren run results and seen us return four points with a win against AFC Wimbledon and a deserved point against Ipswich on Saturday.

The interim Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “I think the defensive shape has been good and that is something we have worked on and will continue to work on.

“We have been more compact as a unit and have not conceded too many goals over the last three games. There has been an improvement there and we will work on not conceding so many goals.

“We also have to be more of a threat ourselves. Our shots on goals on Saturday was disappointing, as we didn’t manage as many shots as we did against Wimbledon but we were up against a higher calibre of opposition against Ipswich without being disrespectful to Wimbledon.”

Crewe Alexandra complete the season with an away fixture at Lincoln City this weekend. Fans are reminded that kick off is at the earlier time of 12.30pm.
