Artell Gears Up For Crucial Fleetwood Clash

1 April 2022

David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side have to take advantage of being at home against a Fleetwood Town side who have struggled for results as we have.

Crewe need three points to provide some sort of platform to build on in the final month of the season.

The Railwaymen will need to go on promotion winning form to stand any chance of avoiding the drop back into League Two after two seasons.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I am not sure it will be an open game against Fleetwood. I am sure it will be a cagey affair but we know what we have to do. We have to win the game, it is as simple as that. That is what we have been working towards all week and we have to make sure we are better than the opposition on the day.

“We have to take our chances. We are home and have the home support and if we play to our level then we have a great chance. No disrespect to Fleetwood but they are not a Wigan, Sunderland, a Plymouth, who we have faced in recent weeks. Clearly neither are we.

“We are closer to Fleetwood as a club than those clubs. We have similar resources. I am sure they are still miles ahead of us but we are not as far away as say a Sunderland.

He added: “It is about taking it one game at time and tackling the opponent in front of us. That is Fleetwood this weekend and we all know the importance of it at this late stage.”
