"The Truth Is I Don't Want Tom Not To Be Playing Football"

Artell hoping to welcome Tom back into the fold after Papa John's run-out

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will do everything he can ‘to get Tommy Lowery playing football again’. The midfielder was a surprise inclusion in the Crewe starting line-up for our Papa John’s Trophy game and it shows the professionalism and fitness of the player that he was able to last 90 minutes.

Crewe won the group tie 1-0 thanks to Ben Knight’s injury-time winner at the New Meadow.

Artell told crewealeax.net: “I don’t want Tom Lowery not to play football. We had a good chat about things in my office beforehand and I’ve tried to call his agent and his agent has tried to get hold of me but we have missed each other, but I will speak to him.

“When two sides are still talking there is always a chance and we are talking. We have gone through Tom which hasn’t been good, so hopefully in these next 10 days, me, Tom and his agent can sit down and thrash something out.

“It also doesn’t mean I will throw the business model of the club to one side either because no one player is an important as this football club. Tom knows that.

“Tom has to help himself as well and so has his agent but I don’t want Tom not to playing football. Hopefully, we can all sit down and sort something out because we all want him back playing football. That is what everyone wants here.”
