Shaun MacDonald Retires From Professional Football

1 September 2021

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that Shaun MacDonald has left the Football Club after deciding to retire from professional football.

The midfielder joined the Alex earlier in the summer on a free-transfer from Rotherham after previous spells at Swansea City, Bournemouth and Wigan Athletic.

33-year-old Shaun made four appearances during his brief time at Mornflake Stadium with the last of those coming in the 1-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley on August 21st.

MacDonald has now made the decision to call time on his 16 year playing career and everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to wish him all the best with the next chapter in his career.
