'Robbo's Character Is Bang-On'

Alex manager on the impact made by on-loan Celtic midfielder Scott Robertson

David Artell has told the club’s official website that the character of the on-loan Scott Robertson is ‘bang on’. Robertson produced another influential performance in the centre of the Crewe midfield on Saturday to help us collect that first league win of the season and Artell has been mightily impressed by the teenager's thirst to improve.

The 19-year-old from Glasgow Celtic was many people’s choice for MOM in the 2-0 win over Burton Albion and Artell described his overall performance again as ‘terrific’.

The Alex boss said of the combative youngster: “Scott’s character is bang on. He listens intently and he looks at you and you know he is taking it all in. There is no noise going on in his head when you speak to him.

“He wants to listen and learn and when you are like that then you are only going to get better.

“He was terrific again on Saturday. Really, really good and he was absolutely shattered in those last five minutes because he had run himself into the ground. He has probably been our best performer in the last three games but he knows that has to continue.

“He knows he has to maintain those levels but he has come here, taken things on board and his attitude to the work is first class.

“Now if he will be good enough to return to Celtic and get into their team, I don’t know and that is their business because I know what a massive club Celtic are and how difficult it is to play at that level, but if he keeps working hard then he is only going to impress those who make those decisions.

“He is in his third spell in League One and I said on Saturday, we have a real gem of a player on our hands.”
